The Northfield Labor Day Celebration still needs funding to continue...
The Labor Day Weekend Celebration is known as a "free" event.
Free admission and entertainment for the attendees, that is, but in
actuality, it costs over $25,000 to put on, funded partly with contributions
from local businesses and individuals (in 2008, that was roughly $9,000)
and partly from the previous years' booth revenues, button sales, t-shirt
sales and raffle ticket sales (click here for
a budget breakdown). Over the last 3-4 years, the NOB has seen a
steady decrease in the community contributions and revenues, while all
of the costs have continued to rise.
